How Do We Know It’s Working?

At Alberta Ballet, we don’t just deliver dance experiences—we design them around proven outcomes. Every ticket offered, class delivered, and child engaged is grounded in research showing how dance supports healthier, more connected youth. Our programs are guided by evidence-based frameworks and community insight to support measurable outcomes across four key dimensions.

Framework for Impact

  1. Physical Literacy & Health
Our programs are grounded in research showing that dance supports motor skills, cardiovascular fitness, coordination, and body confidence—especially for children underserved by traditional sports.

  2. Mental Health & Emotional Well-Being
Evidence shows that dance participation can reduce stress, boost mood, and support emotional regulation. We design programs that align with this research, particularly for adolescents facing growing mental health challenges.

  3. Identity, Confidence & Belonging
Studies demonstrate that dance fosters self-expression, peer connection, and cultural pride. Our approach reflects these findings, prioritizing social belonging and confidence-building in culturally diverse and equity-deserving communities.

  4. Long-Term Developmental Outcomes
Research links dance engagement to improved school attendance, leadership development, and long-term personal growth. We use this evidence base to shape programs that contribute to broader developmental outcomes for Alberta youth.
